The TM Tradition

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is best known for teaching the Beatles to meditate in India in the ‘60’s. However, the history of Transcendental Meditation goes back way further than that. TM comes out of “Vedic” tradition, an ancient Indian process of enlightenment. The knowledge of this meditation has been passed down from teacher to student for millenia.

TM Changes Your Brain

When you look at a person meditating, it doesn’t look like much—a person sitting with their eyes closed. However, if you looked into the Transcendental Meditators brain you would see two unique things. TM produces ALPHA brain wave activity: the brains signature for restful-alertness. Secondly, the brain becomes coherent—all the brain waves synchronize—the most efficient way the brain functions. Instead of working in a fractured way the brain begins to works as a whole.

Famously, the Beatles attributed Transcendental Meditation with giving them the creativity to write their best songs. Oprah Winfrey devoted a whole show to TM on her OWN Network to the practice. She claimed on the Dr. Oz Show (he also practices) that when she meditates, “I am one thousand percent better when I do that.”
